WHO ARE WE?

Juan Carlos Yanez is the founder of Tours Treks and Expeditions; a seasoned tour leader, world traveler, hiker, and expert photographer with a passion for creating unforgettable journeys to some of the world’s most captivating destinations.
Born and raised in Cusco, Peru, JC began guiding at the age of 22, inspired by his father’s legacy. He started as a trekking guide and has hiked the iconic Inca Trail an impressive 77 times. In 2003, he completed an internship at Yale University’s Peabody Museum, where he researched artifacts from the 1911 Hiram Bingham expedition, deepening his lifelong fascination with Inca history and his favorite site, MachuPicchu.
Over the years, JC has led adventures across South America, Asia, Europe, the Caribbean, Central America, and Antarctica. He’s especially drawn to destinations where ancient cultures meet dramatic mountain landscapes, like: Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, Peru, Bolivia, and Guatemala.
As the founder of Tours Treks and Expeditions, JC brings a distinctive style to every journey, blending deep cultural insight, outdoor adventure, and engaging storytelling. His greatest joy is sharing the magic of these extraordinary places with fellow like minded travelers, and seeing them experience the wonder, connection, and inspiration that first sparked his own journey.
